Are there different types of psychotherapy?

Cognitive behavioral therapy, psychoanalytic therapy, psychodynamic therapies, humanistic therapies etc are some of the common modalities in psychotherapy. The type of psychotherapy depends on what your needs are and your therapist’s training and practice. An experienced therapist would be trained in multiple modalities and may choose their approach based on the specific client needs.

For eg., in Psychodynamic psychotherapy, apart from understanding the present challenges, you may explore and understand how your early life experiences affect and influence who you are today, bringing into awareness unconscious experiences that you weren’t aware of.
