The HINDU Education Plus Career Counselling 2024
As part of THE HINDU EDUCATION PLUS CAREER COUNSELLING 2024 – Inner Dawn Psychologist and counsellor Sangita Unni was invited to speak to the students of Bellary on April 27th 2024, on behalf of Cigma India.
Sangita focused on importance for students to be more attuned to their own needs/ likes vs that of others in their life- as a differential to make the most effective decisions in their journey forward.
She drew attention to the word ‘YOUR” career choice – to build a sense of ownership and explained how the 4 parameters i.e- aptitude, interest, skill and personality -are interwoven and relate to each other – when making more successful career choices. She encouraged parents to be more supportive of their children’s decisions.
Sangita steered the students to look at the “Less travelled path” while looking for options. She encouraged students to make “curiosity and learning a lifestyle choice’ while also building life skills like empathy, critical and creative thinking, communication as integral qualities to achieve whatever they aspire to.
Sangita expressed that she had a very gratifying experience when students came up to her post session to discuss their challenges and share their own takeaways from the session. One of the key takeaways for her was that students need personal counselling as a foundation / prerequisite of career counselling.
